Juanita School Grand Opening Goat Eating Celebration
This past week, on Tuesday the 25th of February, we held a goat eating celebration to commemorate the grand opening of Juanita School on the 14th of January 2020.
Together with two pastors and a camera crew, one of our board members, George Hutchings visited Juanita School from St. Louis, Missouri.
It was a day of immense celebrations as the students entertained our guests with poem, song, and dance. The two pastors who accompanied George, also shared the word of God during this time.
It was then time to feast as lots of food had been prepared including two goats as everyone had a good time.
Here are some of the pictures from the event.
As first seen on The Gibbs Family Mission Trip Facebook page, here are some videos from the event.
The students entertained the guests by performing a traditional Kamba dance. A few guests and teachers also joined in the dance.
Elizabeth, one of the students, presented a poem to the attending audience.
Jacinta’s mom (RIGHT), also spoke to the attending audience.
After the day’s events were complete, George’s team met with Jacinta, the executive director, to discuss the current progress of Juanita School as well as the way forward as we expect more students in the next semester.
